Dental Implants

Dental implants are a type of artificial tooth roots that effectively replace missing teeth. By providing a stable foundation, implants can securely support permanent or removable replacement teeth that blend seamlessly with your natural teeth. With dental implants, you can regain natural-looking teeth that function and feel like your own. Implants are versatile devices that can attach replacement teeth securely to your bone, whether it's a single crown or a fixed bridge, as well as fixed or removable partial or complete dentures.

Dental implants offer a fantastic solution to restore your smile and boost your self-confidence. With implants, you can bid farewell to the discomfort and embarrassment of dentures, along with the need for messy adhesives to keep them in place.

Implants are a highly durable dental solution that can last for many years. With proper care, some implants can even last a lifetime, giving you long-lasting peace of mind.

Orthodontics (Dental Braces)

It's very common for teeth and jaws to be misaligned, which can cause a variety of dental issues. Orthodontics is a specialized area of dentistry that focuses on the diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of crooked teeth, misaligned bite patterns, and jaw problems.

Crooked teeth can be more difficult to clean, leading to tooth decay and gum disease. Misaligned teeth can also make it harder to chew, causing headaches, shoulder or back pain, and even temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorders.

Orthodontic treatments use a range of devices to gently guide the teeth and jaws into the correct position. Braces are one of the most common types of orthodontic treatment. They use bands, brackets, and wires to apply gentle pressure to the teeth and move them gradually over time. Braces are adjusted monthly and worn for several months or even years.

Splints are another type of device used in orthodontic treatment. They are used to reposition the jaw and treat TMJ disorders. They can be worn on the upper or lower jaw.

Headgear is a type of device that prevents the upper jaw from growing too quickly and helps to keep the back teeth in place while the front teeth are moved back.

Orthodontic treatment is also available for children. If a child's teeth fall out early, a space maintainer can be used to keep the space open until a permanent tooth emerges. Fixed appliances may also be used to control thumb sucking or tongue thrusting.

In summary, orthodontics is an essential area of dentistry that can help correct a wide range of dental issues, from crooked teeth to misaligned bite patterns and jaw problems. With the use of various devices and treatments, orthodontics can help patients of all ages achieve a healthy, beautiful smile.

Zirconia (Metal-free) Crowns

When it comes to dental crown materials, zirconia is a popular choice due to its biocompatibility. This means that it's less likely to cause an allergic reaction or an immunological response, such as inflammation.

However, one potential disadvantage of zirconia crowns is their opaque appearance, which may not look as natural as other options.

If you're considering alternatives to zirconia crowns, there are several materials available. These include ceramic, porcelain, metal, composite resin, and combinations of materials like porcelain-fused-to-metal (PFM).

Zirconia crowns are known for their durability and strength, which make them a long-lasting choice for dental restorations. In fact, they have a 99 percent five-year survival rate, which is higher than that of porcelain crowns that typically need to be replaced after a few years.

All Ceramic Crowns

All-ceramic crowns are made entirely of ceramic material, which means they reflect light in the same way that natural teeth do. Unlike crowns that contain metal, all-ceramic crowns are entirely lifelike in appearance.

Thanks to an aluminum oxide ceramic core that's covered in pure porcelain, all-ceramic crowns are resistant to breakage. Plus, they're more comfortable to use than metal crowns since they fit better and are not sensitive to temperature changes.

Porcelain-fused-to-metal Crowns

Crowns can be made of various metals, such as gold alloy, palladium, nickel, or chromium. Compared to other types of crowns, metal crowns require less removal of tooth structure and result in minimal tooth wear on opposing teeth. They're highly durable and can withstand strong biting and chewing forces, making them the longest-lasting option with minimal risk of chipping or breaking. However, their metallic color is the primary drawback, so metal crowns are best suited for molars that aren't visible when smiling.

Porcelain fused to metal crowns offer a combination of strength and aesthetics. They're stronger than all-ceramic crowns and more visually appealing than metal ones. However, the metal shell of these crowns makes them look opaque and less natural than all-ceramic crowns. Over time, a thin metal band may become visible along the gum line, which can detract from their appearance.

Dental Enamel Whitening

Enamel, a hard mineralized substance, covers every tooth, protecting the softer layer of dentin and the even softer nerve center known as the pulp. If enamel is weak, a tooth's good health is at risk of being destroyed by decay. This is where fluoride plays an important role, as it is absorbed into tooth enamel, strengthening it and making it more resistant to decay.

To whiten enamel, laser treatment is necessary. The active ingredient in the light-activated whitening gel is hydrogen peroxide. As it breaks down, oxygen enters the enamel and dentin, bleaching colored substances while keeping the tooth's structure intact. The light helps activate the hydrogen peroxide and enables it to penetrate the tooth's surface.

Numerous clinical studies and extensive research indicate that teeth whitening is safe when done under the supervision of a dentist. In fact, many dentists consider it to be the safest cosmetic dental procedure available.

Dentures

Dentures are custom-made dental appliances that are designed to replace missing teeth and the surrounding soft tissues. They are removable and available in two types: complete dentures and partial dentures. Complete dentures are used when all the teeth are missing, while partial dentures are used when some natural teeth remain.

There are various types of dentures available, including partial dentures with or without metal frames, flexible dentures, and complete dentures. The type of denture recommended for a patient will depend on their individual needs and preferences, as well as their oral health condition.

Functional Occlusion

Occlusion refers to the way the upper and lower jaws fit together when we speak, eat or swallow. This is called functional occlusion. Malocclusion can affect speech and make swallowing difficult. Correcting malocclusion with dental appliances not only improves functionality but also enhances facial aesthetics, giving patients more confidence in their smile and speech.
